I have narrow stairs, will a stair lift fit??
With their slim rail and compact carriage, along with folding arms, seat and footrest, Stannah Stairlifts are especially suitable for narrow staircases, even when curved. How long does it take to install a Stannah stair lift? How disruptive is it??
It only takes a few hours to install your custom-made Stannah Stairlift and because the stair lift is fitted to the stairtreads, not to the wall, the process is quick, clean and simple. Before our fitters leave they will tidy up behind them, test the stair lift thoroughly and show you exactly how to operate it.
Can a stair lift go round corners??
Yes. The Stannah 260 is the most versatile stairlift for narrow, curved stairs. Its design enables it to travel around bends on either side of the staircase and negotiate intermediate landings and corridors with ease.
I've heard some stair lifts are noisy - are Stannah stair lifts noisy??
A Stannah stair lift is battery driven and will therefore make a small amount of noise, however this noise will be no louder than a kettle oor any other household appliance. You may like to try a stair lift - contact your local dealer for further information.
What happens if there is a power cut??
Stannah Stairlifts are battery powered and will continue to work even in a power cut. A fully charged battery will complete approximately ten journeys on an average staircase.
How long does the battery in a Stannah stair lift last??
Depending on usage, your battery should last between 3 to 5 years. If you have a Stannah Service Contract on your lift we will replace your battery at no additional cost.
What warranty do I get with my stair lift??
Every new stair lift comes with a 12 month comprehensive guarantee which can be extended to cover all parts for a further nine years.
What quality and safety standards do Stannah conform to??
Stannah Stairlifts were the first stair lift company to be Quality Assured to BS EN ISO 9001:1994 (formerly BS 5750: 1989) and are fully approved to British Standard 5776 for safety.
How much does a stair lift cost??
As every stair lift is differenct and bespoke to both you and your home, it is difficult provide an accurate figure without having seen the staircase. Our Stannah consultants are however more than happy to visit you free of charge in your home to provide you with an accurate quotation.
Do I have to pay for a quotation??
No. Stannah provides a free home survey with a no-obligation quotation.
If I book an appointment with a Stannah Stairlift Consultant, will I be obliged to buy a stair lift??
Our Consultation service is completely free and involves absolutely no obligation on your part to buy a stair lift. Only on your request, will we arrange for one of our trained Stannah Consultants to visit you, so you can discuss your particular requirements in the comfort of your home. This enables the Consultant to accurately measure your stairs and assess your individual needs. Once your staircase has been surveyed, you'll be given a free fixed written quotation and then it's entirely your decision whether to buy or not.
What happens if I want to resell my stair lift??
We buy back any new Stannah Stairlift under three years old which is currently covered by a Stannah Service Contract. Stannah is also sometimes able to make an offer on stair lifts older than three years, or not serviced by Stannah, subject to conditions which will be at our discretion. An inspection may be carried out to the stair lift or factors affecting decision may relate to current market conditions, current stock levels and customer demand.
