90 Year Old Takes to the Skies

The launch of the Stannah Stairlifts ‘Think Again Fund’ has called on people to literally ‘Think Again’ about their unfulfilled dreams and not to assume that just because they are getting older they can’t do something they have always wanted to do and Mary Baird is leading by example.

Retired Mary, from Bridgwater, Somerset, applied to the fund with this unique request which was guaranteed to catch Stannah’s imagination. She wants nothing more than to take a peaceful flight into the blue and see her stunning home county from a bird’s eye view.

Mary, who is taking her maiden flight from a launch-site, just miles from her home in Somerset, said: “This is a dream come true. At 90 years old I didn’t think I’d have this opportunity and I’m so looking forward to seeing the beautiful countryside from the skies. I’m pretty sure it won’t be an experience I’ll forget in a hurry!”

MD of Stannah Lift Services, Jon Stannah, commented: “When we began the Think Again initiative we never dreamed people would put it to such wonderful use. It’s a privilege to be making Mary’s hot air balloon dream a reality and we wish her luck with the forthcoming ride – taking to the skies at 90 is sure to be a thrilling experience!”
