Meet the North and North East team

Liam Raftery – Northern Sales and Operations Manager

Liam began his career with Stannah in 1987 as a Lift Engineer and progressed quite rapidly through the ranks to be a Senior Engineer before progressing into Sales. In 1998 he became Branch Manager of Stannah Lift Services in Stockport, close to his beloved Manchester United. Then in 2004 Liam took on the management of the Gateshead Branch too. In 2007 Liam was appointed Northern Sales and Operations Manager overseeing  the work in Stockport, Gateshead and Glasgow branches of Stannah Lift Services.

In addition to all his responsibilities in 2008 Liam gained an MBA in Business Management!

John Mowbray – Service Manager

John joined Stannah in Gateshead in 1985 as a Senior Lift Technician. In 1995 he took on the additional role of a Technician/Tester. John was a Supervisor for 10 years and Deputy Branch Manager for 2 years before taking on his current role as Service Manager in 2007. He is also the Branch Health & Safety Officer having gained the LEIA Managing Safely qualification. John holds an NVQ4 in Business Management.

Helen Brown – Administration Supervisor

Helen joined Stannah in 1987, straight from school. She began on a short training scheme but was kept on full time as a Junior Administrator. Helen has been Supervisor for the past 6 years and has gained her NVQ Level 4 in Administration. Helen has a team of 3 administrators.

Alistair Skinner – Senior Sales Engineer

Alistair was a Marine Engineer and came into contact with Stannah through their MOD contracts to maintain lifts on the ships. In 1988 Alistair reversed his role by joining Stannah and supervising the lift services on the ships. In 1989 he moved into his sales role. Alistair has a wealth of qualifications including an HNC in Lift Design and Technology, a DTI Certificate of Competence and an IOSH Certification.

Derek Bainbridge – Sales Engineer

Derek has been with Stannah for 18 years, progressing from fitter to technician/tester. In recent years he has been involved in carrying out the thorough examinations from the network rail office. Derek’s current role is technical sales advisor; involving selling lift equipment, ordering parts, site surveys, meeting consultants and clients.

His qualifications include J5-J25 lift modules, City & Guilds in electronics servicing, parts 1,2 and3, IEE 16th edition ( BS7671 ) and NVQ level 4 in testing and commissioning lifts.

Iain O’Connor – Branch Technician

Iain is the Branch Technician Tester. He joined Stannah in November 2004, after 23 years at another lift company. Iain provides technical support to the service and repair team at Gateshead office. He gained an NVQ4 in Testing lifts which enabled him to take on an additional role of testing major modernisations. This is now a large part of his work, as the Gateshead Branch continue to grow this area of their business.

Clare Richardson – Administrator

Clare has been with Stannah for over 10 years. Whilst with Stannah Clare has gained her NVQ2 and 3 in Business Administration, Key Skills 2 and NVQ 2 and 3 in Customer Service.

Donna Spoors - Administrator

9 years ago Donna joined Stannah to cover a maternity leave and never left! Donna has been busy training as part of her role at Stannah gaining NVQ 2 and 3 in Business Administration, Key Skills Level 3 and NVQ 2 in Customer Service. She is now busy working towards Customer Service Level 3 and, outside of working hours, is working to gain her European Computer Driving Licence.

Karen Jennings – Administrator

Karen joined Stannah 4 years ago. She gained her job through Access Training, the training company who work closely with the Gateshead Branch. She has completed her Foundation NVQ in Administration and is working towards her NVQ in Advanced Customer Services.
