Meet the North West England and North Wales Team

Liam Raftery – Northern Sales and Operations Manager

Liam began his career with Stannah in 1987 as a Lift Engineer and progressed quite rapidly through the ranks to be a Senior Engineer before progressing into Sales. In 1998 he became Branch Manager of Stannah Lift Services in Stockport, close to his beloved Manchester United. Then in 2004 Liam took on the management of the Gateshead Branch too. In 2007 Liam was appointed Northern Sales and Operations Manager overseeing  the work in Stockport, Gateshead and Glasgow branches of Stannah Lift Services.

In addition to all his responsibilities in 2008 Liam gained an MBA in Business Management!

Carl Bramhall – Service Manager (Industrial)

Carl has been with Stannah in Stockport for 15 years, first as a call-out service engineer, becoming service supervisor with a team of 10 service engineers and now Service Manager for industrial work at Stockport.

Before joining Stannah, Carl worked as a fabrication engineer and then completed a lift engineering apprenticeship. Supported by Stannah, Carl has gained an NVQ4 in Lift Testing and an NVQ3 in Management.

Ged Smith – Service Manager (Domestic)

As Service Supervisor, with a team of 13 engineers, Ged looked after the maintenance and repair of stairlifts in both the private and public sectors until his 2007 promotion to Service Manager (Domestic). He has been in the lift industry for 13 years and with Stannah since 2005. Ged worked as an electrician on stairlift installations before becoming Supervisor.

Stannah have supported Ged in gaining an NVQ 3 in Management and he is now working on Level 4. He is also the branch Health & Safety Officer.

Dean Paterson – Sales Manager

Having joined Stannah in 1994 Dean worked for 10 years as a repair engineer.
In 2004 he became a Technical Sales Advisor and now manages a sales team of three. Dean’s favourite memory of his on-site engineering days is when he merged with the press during a refurbishment project at Old Trafford to witness Dwight York signing for Manchester United. It’s a good job he’s a fan as this was in the middle of a project that involved working 7 days a week refurbishing 6 lifts in 8 weeks – half the original time-span because United got a home draw in the European Cup!

Dean has completed NALM distance learning & NVQ3 in Engineering.

Alison Hibbert – Office Supervisor

Alison heads up the 6-strong administration team at Stockport. She has been with Stannah for 3 years and holds NVQ3 in both Customer Service and Management. These were completed in-house as part of a Stannah staff-development plan.

Brian Loomes – Repair & Modernisation Supervisor (Lifts)

Brian has been in the lift industry since 1977 and joined Stannah in 2001.

He now heads up a team of nine repair engineers. Having gained NAAM Qualifications and an HNC in Engineering he is currently completing an NVQ3 in Management.

Simon Hayhurst – Engineering Supervisor

Simon heads a team of 12 service engineers, all looking after commercial and domestic products through call-outs, planned maintenance and repair programmes. He has been with Stannah for 4 years, but in the lift industry for 25 years. Simon holds an NVQ3 in Engineering.

R Berry – Technical Sales Advisor

Steve Edmondson – Technical Sales Advisor (Stairlifts)

Steve holds the crucial post of Branch First Aider as well as his responsibility for Stairlift Sales. He has been with Stannah for 2 years having made a career change from accountancy to take up the sales role. When he’s not at his desk you can find Steve leading a team of Scouts – and he has dedicated his spare time to them for the past 20 years.
