Network Rail

The Stockport Branch are currently refurbishing station lifts across North West England and North Wales for Network Rail. The nationwide modernisation programme, to Network Rail specifications, meets the requirements of the Lifts Directive (95/16/EC)1995, BS5655 and EN81-80.

Our Network Rail work includes:
A traction passenger lift at Liverpool Central
Two hydraulic passenger lifts at Birkenhead Station
2 lifts in the Liverpool underground
1 lift at Poulton Le Fylde station
1 lift at Lime Street station
2 duplex lifts and a 36 person traction lift at Hamilton Square
3 passenger lifts at York
Passenger lifts in the Administration building at Leeds station

Leeds Station

Leeds Station has 85,000 visitors per day or 650,000 visitors per week – so the lifts on the station are always busy. We maintain and repair 14 lifts at Leeds Station and in the last 5 years have carried out 2 major refurbishments at Leeds Station.

Mobile Communications

Stannah Lift Services operate a mobile communications system that enables the branch offices to be in touch with their traveling engineers all day, every day. Each engineer carries a laptop which displays all scheduled work for each week.

The engineer is able to fill in his log on completion of each site and send the information directly to the office for processing. A huge advantage of the system is the reduction in paperwork. The ability to be in direct contact with the engineers means emergency call-outs can be met even more quickly as it is possible to quickly locate the nearest engineer and be aware of his workload. Then, if necessary, schedules can be re-arranged to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved for our customers.

Local Authority Contracts

Stannah have many local authority contracts right across the UK. The Stockport branch look after several council’s lift stock. For Lancashire County Council we service, maintain and repair Over 2,500 units including stairlifts, through-the-floor lifts, step lifts, ceiling hoists, toilets and disability aids.

Apprentices & Trainees

Stannah Lift Services have a nationwide policy of providing Engineering Apprenticeships. At Stockport we currently have 3 apprentice engineers who attend college for periods of full and part-time education. Two of the young engineers are in their second years, one in his first and plans are in place to add another apprentice to the team to begin his studies in the next academic year.
