A bespoke Stannah lift for Sportsworld

Stannah in Scotland have installed a very special bespoke lift for nationwide sports equipment retailer, Sportsworld, in their Glasgow store.

The art deco building in the centre of Glasgow presented Stannah with a very unique lift refurbishment project as Sportsworld wanted a lift to truly reflect the period of the building.

The lift had to operate within an existing shaft so a new steel structure was constructed within the existing stairwell so that the 'new' lift would comply with all the latest regulations. The structure is clad with gilt bronze mesh, the lift interior is finished to perfection in wood with brass panels and skirting and the car is completed by a stunning decorative ceiling.

The entrance to the lift into the listed building is unfortunately approached by a flight of external steps, so this means the store is still not fully accessible. The installation of a Stannah Stairiser, platform stairlift, on the approaching staircase means people who use a wheelchair or find the stairs difficult can still access the passenger lift and reach all levels of the store.

Stannah add lift to new Waverley Infrastructure Development

Stannah Lift Services, based in Glasgow, have installed a bespoke scenic passenger lift into Edinburgh Waverley Station.

A comprehensive refurbishment of two traction drive passenger goods lifts for Network Rail at Glasgow Central Station.

Mobile Communications

Stannah Lift Services operate a mobile communications system that enables the branch offices to be in touch with their travelling engineers all day, every day. Each engineer carries a laptop which displays all scheduled work for each week.

The engineer is able to fill in his log on completion of each site and send the information directly to the office for processing. A huge advantage of the system is the reduction in paperwork. The ability to be in direct contact with the engineers means emergency call-outs can be met even more quickly as it is possible to quickly locate the nearest engineer and be aware of his workload. Then, if necessary, schedules can be re-arranged to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved for our customers.

Glasgow City Chambers

The Scotland Branch of Stannah Lift Services won the contract to completely refurbish two passenger lifts within the City Chambers and both lifts were far from standard applications.
