At the New Designers exhibition in July the Joseph Stannah Award was given to James Seal, a recent graduate in Product Design from Huddersfield University. James clinched the award – a £1000 cash prize – when the judging panel say his final year project, ‘Grace’, a new type of colostomy bag. He developed it after learning of the difficulties of living with a stoma from two members of his family.
For the third year running Stannah, through their Joseph Stannah Foundation, have taken part in the Greenpower challenge. The Greenpower Trust is a UK based charity which supports careers in engineering by engaging with young people through the excitement of motorsport.
Stannah encourage local students to explore the possibilities of design and innovation.
For the second year running through their Joseph Stannah Foundation, Stannah have hosted a innovative full day workshop with year 9 & 10 students from three local Andover schools. The Joseph Stannah Foundation was set up in celebration of 150 years of business and supports STEM students in every stage of education.
