Dianne Sillis, Office Manager from Stannah Lift Services Ltd recently presented the East Anglian Children’s Hospice charity (EACH) with a cheque for £1,250, following her successful completion of the Walk the London Bridges challenge.
EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Their care is tailored to support the needs of all family members and is delivered where families wish to receive it, whether in their own home, at hospital, in the community or at one of three hospices in Ipswich, Milton and Quidenham.
The £500 of fundraising that Dianne managed to raise thanks to generous donations from family, friends and colleagues was matched by Stannah by 150 per cent, to mark this year’s 150th anniversary.
Dianne began her 10-mile London Bridges walk at Westminster Bridge and managed to reach the finish line at the Tower of London in just over 3 hours.
Commenting on the challenge Dianne says;
“I found the route very interesting and managed to continue a brisk walking pace throughout the challenge, which took me over the bridges, through London streets and back across the bridges.
I’m thrilled with the amount of sponsorship I’ve received and would like to thank everyone for their support with the challenge. Walking the London bridges is something I’ve always wanted to do and the promise of the generous 150% match funding from Stannah really spurred me on to finally getting around to it. It was such an enjoyable experience and the views were so magnificent that I would recommend the challenge to anyone.
It was an amazing feeling being able to hand over the cheque for £1,250 to EACH and I know that the money will go towards helping children and families who are facing such difficult situations.”
