The employees at Stannah Stairlifts Inc. in the USA chose Old Colony Habitat for Humanity as the charity to benefit from the generous 150% match-funding from Stannah.
Habitat for Humanity provides affordable housing to families in need and helps existing homeowners that are struggling to restore and maintain a safe and decent place to live.
The financial donations from 20 employees combined with the pledge from Stannah to mark their 150th anniversary, has raised a grand total of £3,403.50 for the Old Colony Habitat for Humanity.
The team chose this charity because in addition to providing them with a monetary donation, the charity provided the team with a “hands on” experience of helping those in need.
The team of generous donors and the six employees that helped with the home repairs was put together by Cathy Ellis, Administrative Manager.
The dedicated group of six Stannah employees participated in a couple of home repair projects for elderly homeowners. One project consisted of removing and replacing sheetrock on the ceiling and walls and the other involved removing and repairing ceiling and wall tiles from two bathrooms that were water-damaged. Both homeowners were extremely grateful for the group’s assistance.
Cathy says, “it was very rewarding to meet the individuals we were helping and to see how happy and grateful they were when we were finished.
It was also very pleasing to inform them of the generous 150% match-funding from Stannah and it gave us all a sense of pride to be working for a company that’s so generous.
The charity has many clients in need of homes and home repairs, so they were extremely appreciative of the extra funds.”
