Stannah Engineering Apprenticeships

We take care of our customers, our people and our products. That’s why our business has thrived since 1867

Joseph Stannah founded the business making cranes and hoists in the docks of London and now, five generations and over 150 years later, we are the leading independent lift business in the UK. In addition to our world famous stairlifts we have a wide range of commercial products from passenger lifts, to escalators and service lifts that make life easier in hospitals, schools, restaurants, retailers and heritage sites around the country.

PrintWe know a thing or two about apprenticeships too. They have always played a part in our business and a number of our directors started their careers as apprentices with us. With apprentices out in the field, at our manufacturing sites and in our engineering teams we have opportunities to nurture a wide range of talents from NVQ through to degree level.

Choosing to study for an apprenticeship with Stannah can be both an inspiring and rewarding way to start your career. As an apprentice, you can expect support to achieve your potential and know that no two days will be the same.

Join us at Stannah for a career pathway that is both fulfilling and rewarding. For more information on our apprenticeships, contact us by emailing or calling 01264 364311.

Meet the apprentices

We employed our first apprentice in 1949. Today, we offer a huge range of opportunities to begin and continue your career. But don’t just take our word for it, see what our previous and current apprentices have to say about the work they do.

Meet Sophie

Apprentice_SophieSophie is an apprentice lift engineer and is working towards her NVQ Level 3 in Lift Servicing.

As part of the lift engineering team, maintaining, repairing and servicing lifts, Sophie loves the variety day-to-day – as well as the huge amount she is learning. Sophie often travels throughout the South Midlands and Home Counties region of England.

“Every day is different. We may have scheduled visits in high security buildings or a scheduled visit to a theme park or an emergency call out to a new place. It’s a great hands-on job one minute and demands all the social skills you can muster the next – managing our customers, equipment and the people who use it.
