Common Stair Lift FAQs
The most common stair lift questions.
Our local stairlift service in Saint Paul, MN
When you buy a Stannah stairlift, we try to make the process as straightforward as possible, so you can make an informed decision without feeling pressured. But we'll also be there to guide you through the process and answer any questions you might have along the way.
The first step is to schedule a free stair survey. During this home visit, one of our stairlift professionals will come to your home to measure your stairs. They'll determine the shape of your stairs and recommend the best model to fit your needs. Then, they'll review specific options with you, answer all of your questions and give you exact pricing.
After the stair survey, you'll be left with a no-obligation price quote, so you don't have to decide on the day. When you're ready, you can simply call us to complete the order.
Once we've accepted your order, we'll schedule a time for installation. To ensure that all safety standards are met, professional installation is included in the price of your stairlift (we don't provide our products for self-installation). Instead, our factory-trained professionals will come to your house and make sure the job is done right. Afterwards, they'll demonstrate how to operate the stairlift, so you'll know how to use it safely.
Even after installation, you'll still get support from our local team. If at any point, you have issues with your stairlift, you'll have access to aftercare service from your Stannah distributor. They are available for both repairs and regular maintenance by request. Depending on the type of purchase, service may be covered by an extended warranty.
When you're ready for your stairlift to be removed, we'll send someone over to take it away for you. We'll also do everything we can to make sure your stairlift is handled sustainably. That means recycling as many parts as possible and disposing of obsolete parts in an environmentally conscious way.
Still have questions? Contact us today! We'll be happy to answer all of your questions and help you take the first step towards greater independence at home.
How to Find the Right Stairlift for Your Home
At Stannah, we take all the guesswork out of the process, making it simple to find the perfect stairlift for your unique needs.
Here's our straightforward approach:
-
Free Home Assessment: Contact us to schedule a complimentary stair survey. We'll visit your home to carefully assess and measure your staircase, helping you discover how to maximize your home's potential.
-
Personalized Design: Based on our assessment, we'll design a stairlift specifically tailored to both your staircase configuration and personal requirements.
-
No-Pressure Quote: Once we understand what you need, we provide a free, no-obligation quote right on the spot. You can take all the time you need to consider your options and make the best decision for your situation.
-
Quick Installation: When you're ready to proceed, our technician will install your stairlift in less than a day. Before we leave, we'll ensure you're completely comfortable operating your new stairlift.
The entire process is designed to be hassle-free, giving you peace of mind from consultation through installation and beyond.
Straight Stairlift vs. Curved Stairlift
Our most popular option, straight stairlifts are designed specifically for staircases that run in a single direction without any turns, landings, or bends. Curved stairlifts are engineered for staircases with turns, including spiral configurations, fanned steps, or half and quarter landings.
The right choice depends entirely on your home's architecture and your specific mobility needs. During our free assessment, we can help determine which style would work best for your particular staircase configuration.
Outdoor Stairlift Uses & Examples
Your outdoor stairlift provides a safe alternative to slippery, wet stairs throughout the entire year. It's safer than a ramp, more compact than a vertical platform lift, and easier to install since it attaches directly to your stairs rather than requiring wall mounting.
Rain or shine, these durable lifts will transport you where you need to go in all seasons. The chair, motor, and battery are fully waterproofed to withstand rain, ice, and snow without damage.
Common Outdoor Stairlift Applications:
-
From your back porch to your garden
-
Front entrance steps to your driveway
-
Deck or patio access for comfortable outdoor entertaining
-
Lakefront properties to safely navigate steep paths to docks or water access
-
Pool areas to ensure safe entry and exit from elevated pool decks
-
Split-level yards to move between terraced landscape features
-
Beach house access to navigate stairs leading to the shoreline
-
Garage or workshop entrance
Does Insurance Cover Stairlifts?
Insurance coverage for stairlifts may be available if your policy includes allowances for home accessibility modifications. Auto insurance plans, worker's compensation programs, and medical trust funds might provide financial assistance toward your stairlift purchase. We suggest reaching out to your health insurance provider to ask about possible coverage options—they could potentially cover part of the expense.
Does Medicaid Cover Stairlifts in Saint Paul?
Medicare doesn't provide coverage for stairlifts. However, you may be able to reduce your costs through various funding programs. We're happy to help you investigate all potential financial assistance options that could make your stairlift investment more manageable.
Can I Rent a Stairlift?
Yes! Stairlift rentals are ideal for those who only need a stairlift for a short period of time. We offer a variety of stairlift rental options to accommodate a wide range of needs.
