Aftercare tips
Take the time to read the manual
The manual gives specific maintenance and operating instructions and helpful tips. It’s worth keeping your manual handy for troubleshooting, as simple checks often save callout or repair charges if you hit a problem.
Use your homelift for its intended purposes
We recommend only using your homelift for its intended use. Even if it makes moving things up and down stairs less convenient, the lift should not transport heavy goods.
Don’t switch off the power supply to the lift
An essential part of your homelift care is that when you go away or leave your home for an extended period, you don't turn off the lift's power supply. The power to the lift controls comes from a battery which requires a constant charge, so we recommend keeping your homelift switched on at all times.
Keep the lift at the lower level when not in use
Ensure that your homelift is returned to the lower level whenever it is not in use. If it is left upstairs for prolonged periods, it will occasionally re-level itself depending on conditions.
Keep the area around and under the lift clear
Do not stand or place objects in the infill panels when the lift is operating and ensure the area around the safety edges is clear. Safety sensors on the edges of a homelift will automatically stop the lift if obstructed.
Learn how to clean your homelift
Keeping your homelift clean is an essential part of maintenance. Panels on the lift cars are made from powder-coated steel, making them easy to clean with regular household cleaners. You can also clean the PVC upholstery the same way.
Know who to call if your homelift stops working
Whilst you may fix some errors by checking your user manual, you need to know who to call when stuck. If you have problems with your homelift you can't resolve, ensure you have details of your maintenance provider saved in your phone or somewhere else handy - hopefully, it's Stannah!
Understand your service cover
Service contracts vary greatly, so ensure you know if parts and labour are included and if your service contract includes out-of-hours or weekends. If you don’t have a contract, find a company that covers non-contract callouts and understand what the fees are likely to be. If you rely entirely on your homelift, sometimes saving money by not taking a contract can be a false economy.
