For non-urgent stair lift repair queries feel free to use our service enquiry form.

Is your stairlift out of warranty? Or not covered by a service contract?
It doesn't matter if you don't have a contract with us. We may still be able to help. Depending on the age, make and model of stairlift or home lift we can provide a one-off repair service.
Simply contact your local branch giving as much detail as you can on the product and the issue and one of our friendly branch team will be able to advise if we can help and arrange for an engineer.
We’ll aim to get to you as quickly as we can to advise what’s needed to make the repair and may even be able to repair it there and then. And of course, if you'd like the peace of mind a stairlift service and repair contract gives at any stage, we can offer that too.
What happens if I request a one-off callout?
We can arrange for an engineer to visit for a fee starting from £286 excluding VAT* (price is dependent on callout time and location).
What’s included:
- the engineer's travel and first hour onsite*
- a complete inspection and diagnosis of your product
- either a service, including safety checks, general lubrication and clean
- or any simple repairs (this excludes parts) we can complete in the time
* The charge covers the engineer's time and travel; outside of normal working hours, it includes our engineer's overtime rate. Full terms and conditions on our one-off callout and servicing can be found here.
What’s not included:
- any guarantee we can fix any issues as part of this initial visit
- the cost of new stairlift batteries, any additional repair work, parts or visits
Our repair services mean:
Wherever you are, we can help.
Stannah is one of the UK's leading stairlift companies; with a local branch network and hundreds of experienced service engineers, we provide complete coverage across the UK. So if your product needs repairing or servicing, whether it’s a curved stairlift or a straight stairlift, we can help you wherever you live.
Emergency homelift and stairlift repairs around the clock
With local branches, plus 24-hour UK-based emergency support, we are on hand to assist, particularly in the event of a product breakdown. We’ll always try to fix your product over the phone first. However, we’ll typically be there in less than 4 hours if you require an emergency call-out. If your issue is not an emergency, we will arrange for a Stannah stairlift engineer to visit when convenient for you.
You can trust our expertise, no matter the make or model
We invest heavily in training our engineers, and we're experienced in many home lift makes and stairlift models, not just Stannah products. So regardless of make or model, our engineers can visit your home to provide stairlift maintenance and make a repair. Plus, as part of a callout, we'll also thoroughly inspect, lubricate parts and ensure the product is running safely.
It doesn't matter if you don't have a contract with us
We can still help. Regardless of whether you have a warranty or service contract with us or not, we're always on hand and ready to assist you if you need a stairlift repair service. This will give you peace of mind that we can get to you quickly and return your product to good working order. And of course, if at any stage you'd like the peace of mind a stairlift service and repair contract gives, we can offer that too.
Have a question?
How do I know if my stairlift is covered under a warranty or service contract?
If your stairlift or homelift was installed by Stannah or your stairlift has servicing covered either privately or by a local authority, we’ll be able to advise if you have cover by providing your postcode and address details to your local service branch.
What happens when I ring with an issue with my stairlift or homelift?
We’ll always try to fix your product over the phone first. If we cannot resolve the issue, we’ll advise that a callout is required and arrange for an engineer to attend. If there is a charge for a callout, we’ll advise what these are and when the payment needs to be made.
How quickly can you get to me if I want a callout?
With local branches, plus 24-hour UK-based emergency support, we are on hand to assist, particularly in the event of a product breakdown.
If you require an emergency call-out and you have a warranty or service contract with us, we’ll typically be there in less than four hours. If we don’t look after your stairlift under one of our service contracts, we'll try to get an engineer to you as soon as possible. However, it may take two to three working days.
If your issue is not an emergency, we will arrange for a Stannah stairlift engineer to visit when convenient for you. On the day, an engineer will ring to advise a time and, on arrival, ask for some forms to be filled in to start work.
How can I identify a genuine Stannah engineer?
Stannah engineers will always carry identification with them, verifying that they are genuine. They will also arrive in Stannah workwear and a branded vehicle.
How do I know which service contract is right for me?
Our service contracts give peace of mind and a range of options. 5-star cover includes all servicing, callouts and repair costs, whereas 3-star provides only servicing costs, preferential rates and response times. Full T&Cs can be found here.
Do I have to take out a service contract?
Not at all. However, since many of our clients depend on our product to move between floors, we are aware that many of them value the coverage that a warranty or service contract offers.
How do I take care of my stairlift or homelift?
Always keep your stairlift turned on so the batteries remain charged and a regular cleaning helps to ensure the rail stays clear of dust and debris. You can find more helpful tips in our aftercare section.
Who do I contact if I have an issue with my stairlift or homelift?
For any installed product it’s best to speak to your local Stannah service branch if you experiencing an issue, but we’d always recommend trying on troubleshooting and product support sections first.
Am I eligible to get a VAT discount on a Stannah service contract or on any repair and maintenance services?
If you are a disabled person or suffer from a chronic illness then you may be eligible for 0% VAT on our maintenance and repair services. You can find out more about eligibility and a form for you to provide us with here.
