Remote control FAQs
Do stairlifts have a remote control?
Most stairlifts come with two remote control handsets, one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom of the staircase so you can call the stairlift at the press of a button.
Can I get a replacement remote control?
We keep spares handy just in case. It’s easy to get a replacement or extra control; simply contact your local service branch.
Why is my stair lift remote control not working?
Dead batteries are the most common cause of a Stannah stairlift remote control not working. With average use, most batteries will last about a year, so if your remote control isn’t working, it’s possibly time to replace them. Before you do anything, it’s important to check the power key is in and switched to the on position on the stairlift - as the stairlift and remote controls will not work otherwise.
How can I check if my remote control batteries are running out?
The checks you need to make vary depending on the type of remote calling control you have. If you’ve noticed the lights surrounding the arrow buttons are on constantly or flashing, then the remote control tells you it’s time to replace the batteries and if no light shows if the batteries have no power. Your user manual on the relevant product support page can give more specific details.
How do I change the battery on my stairlift remote?
You can refer to your user manual to find out how to change the battery on your remote control, ensuring you have three new AA batteries to replace the old ones. After replacing the batteries, the remote and stairlift should start working. If you have replaced the batteries and your stairlift isn’t working, contact your local service branch for assistance.
