Award winning architect and access consultant Amy Francis-Smith is a leading voice in the field of inclusive design and property development.

Amy Francis-Smith is Stannah’s award winning inclusive design specialist. She is a Senior Architect at Pinnegar Hayward Design and former Vice President of the Birmingham Architectural Association.
Amy's commitment to accessibility is deeply personal, influenced by her own experiences with chronic illnesses such as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Crohn’s disease, and hearing loss. These challenges have fueled her passion for creating environments that are accommodating to all individuals. She actively educates both students and professionals on the importance of inclusive design and has collaborated with organisations like the Financial Times, Microsoft, the British Council, and the BBC to promote awareness and change.
Amy has received numerous accolades, including ranking sixth on the Shaw Trust’s Disability Power 100 list in 2024 and being named a RIBAJ Rising Star in Architecture. She also serves on the advisory board of Habinteg, an accessible housing association, and contributes to government policy discussions on building regulations.
