Meet our treasured occupational therapist from The OT Service, Kate Sheehan. Kate has over 30 years of practice and over those years, she has offered business and clinical support to not just individuals but to local authorities and various companies.
Kate is one of the Directors at The OT Service, which provides valuable consultancy services to businesses not only in the disability sector but to various types of businesses and manufacturers, from neuro rehabilitation and housing equipment to training, mentorship and supervision.
Kate Sheehan has presented her work on housing standards, inclusive design and equipment, at The Royal College of Occupational Therapists Annual Conference, Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section Housing Conference (RCOTSSH), and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists in Sydney, Australia.
Kate Sheehan has taught new generations of inspired therapists at big universities in England the significant role of housing in the community, equipment provision and entrepreneurial practice.
Kate is a published author as well. She has worked on numerous publications, such as the publication of ‘Minor adaptations without delay’ in collaboration with Bristol University, co-written the new Wheelchair Housing Design Guide and she has also contributed to ‘When we are 64’ book.
In 2018 Kate was awarded the Elma Shearer award for excellence in housing practice.
